Carlisle cluster sparks COVID-19 testing call

Colleagues in Cumbria are asking people who visited three Carlisle pubs on specific dates to come forward for COVID-19 testing.

It comes after six positive coronavirus cases were identified among a group of people who visited those Carlisle pubs on these dates and also attended a local house party.

As a precaution, anyone attending the three pubs on the following specific dates is now being advised to be tested for COVID-19. They are:

• The Turf, Carlisle - Thursday 9 July, Friday 10 July and Monday 13 July

• Lloyds Bar, Carlisle - Saturday 11 July

• The Museum, Carlisle - Monday 13 July

Testing is available in Carlisle at Brunton Park from Monday to Wednesday and in Penrith at the Rugby Club seven days a week. People can book a test at: https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test

Colleagues in Cumbria are also noting that testing continues to be provided daily until this weekend in either or Annan and Gretna.

Tests can be booked by visiting the website https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test

Anyone in Dumfries and Galloway who is concerned about symptoms should get advice through the www.nhsinform.scot/ website or by phoning NHS-111.

To help identify any possible new cases of coronavirus infection and help prevent wider spread we are encouraging any members of the public who have  symptoms of coronavirus (a cold or flu like illness - including a new cough, high temperature, or loss of smell) to arrange testing.

Notice 21 July : We're aware that an issue with the national testing website means that Brunton Park is not showing as a booking option. If you need to be tested you can attend Brunton Park without a booking. Arrive and you'll be booked in. Please be aware that you may have to wait to get a test. Make sure you maintain physical distancing and wear a mask while you're waiting. In D&G mobile testing is available today in Annan.
